A daughter of two
immigrants, Dr. Mari was raised in the South Bronx and was
fortunate to have a supportive family and top-notch
teachers. Her professional, academic and public service
credentials, combined with a heart of compassion, have
helped her realize her dream of becoming an effective doctor
for those facing significant life
challenges.

Volunteer founder and
Counseling Director* of Hope Family Resources, providing 16
years of pro bono administrative work, therapeutic
counseling, and staff education and training since its
inception in 1985.

Morrisania Neighborhood Family public health
clinic;

therapeutic/vocational counseling and workshop leadership
at the University Counseling Center of Fordham in the
Bronx;
- Neuropsychological
evaluation and therapist work at the developmental
disabilities clinic of Flower Hospital of
Manhattan;
- Clinical research
on a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded
study of childbearing loss and depression at Columbia
University; in the Institute for the Development of
Exceptional Children at Manhattan's Roosevelt Hospital;
in NYU Nursing School's projects on families/parenting,
and moral growth in nurses; and for a Westchester, NY law
firm studying surgically injured women
- Work in applied
arts education for children at the Manhattan Lab Museum,
Cooper-Hewitt Museum, and Manhattan's PS 87.

radio and television interviews (satellite, network and
cable) on childbearing loss, faith, mental health

Day NY (Fox TV) program on spiritual dimensions of
psychological difficulties in 1993.
